Sponsorship Opportunities

The Facing Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has worked with more than 7,500 volunteers to tell more than 1,500 stories, and has found that those who have a lifetime of experiences often have the best stories. No single story can capture the topic of gun violence, so we’ll collect more than 20 stories that, as a whole, present a mosaic, which will lead to conversation, understanding, empathy, and healing.

The stories will be published in a book available to purchase as a physical or digital copy from Amazon. The stories will also be performed at a local event, and used to inform some type of lasting action.

The Impact of a Story

Each story represents a connection between two people: the storyteller and the listener. The pair will form a bond and produce a story that will be shared with our community.

Stories give us hope. Think about the last time you faced a loss, injustice, illness, or challenge. You likely found hope in the story of someone who faced  similar circumstances and made it through. Knowing that we aren’t alone gives us hope.

Facing Project volunteers and audience members are more likely to volunteer, give, and support organizations working to face the topic.

Books! Imagine books at local doctor’s offices, distributed by meals on wheels, in retirement homes, and available to and from stakeholders across our community. Stories will focus on many issues seniors in our communities face and include a list of local resources.

Stories inspire action. A project in Atlanta led to a kiosk at the Atlanta airport educating travelers on how to identify sex trafficking. Kansas State University led a project facing hunger and afterwards started an on-campus food pantry. Projects have led to education campaigns, policy change, and new community-wide initiatives.

With your help this project will contribute to the much-needed conversation about gun violence in our community and lead to initiatives that heal and support those in our community who have been impacted.
